Managing Editor, Inland CatholicFebruary 4, 2026 The Catholic Diocese of Spokane Office of Communications seeks a part-time Managing Editor of Inland Catholic. The Managing Editor oversees daily operations of the quarterly print and digital editions of the diocesan magazine. Develops and presents compelling print content that brings to life the beauty, goodness, and truth of the Catholic faith, advances the Church's mission in Eastern Washington, reflects Bishop's priorities of Catholic education, vocations and growth in holiness, and enhances engagement of Catholics; Essential responsibilities include: work with the magazine's publisher, Faith Catholic, on magazine creation, design, layout; procure news and story writers, select issue themes, monitor readership trends; oversee assignment writers; proof content for spelling, grammar, and accuracy; write stories, conduct interviews, take photos; evaluate material from Catholic news sources for publication; approve final edits before publication; work with Coordinator of Digital Media to publish on-line magazine Knowledge, skills, and abilities: Understand the role of print and digital communications to evangelize and provide a sense of identity and unity in communicating the gospel message to a contemporary audience; familiar with the Catholic Church's structures, institutions, history and policy positions; excellent writing, verbal and editing skills; familiarity with the array of Catholic Church messaging, including Vatican-related, United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), and other magisterial resources, along with more popular sources; strongly prefer active practicing Catholic; Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or blend of professional experience and education; track record of successful experience in writing and editing for print publications This position is 25 hours per week with a flexible schedule and potential for hybrid work.
