LUCY DANZIGER ELECTED PRESIDENT OF ASME

Lucy Danziger, Editor-in-Chief of SELF, succeeds Larry Hackett, managing editor of People, as President.

NEW YORK, NY (May 2, 2012)—Lucy Danziger, Editor-in-Chief of SELF, was elected President of the American Society of Magazine Editors at the annual meeting of the organization on May 2, 2012. Ms. Danziger succeeds Larry Hackett, Managing Editor of People, as President. 

“This is a pivotal moment for magazines,” said Ms. Danziger. “It is a time of unprecedented opportunity because editors have more ways to showcase excellence in magazine content than ever before. I look forward to working with the ASME board to support the creativity and innovation of editors to grow their brands and find new audiences."

Ms. Danziger also added, “All of us on the board would like to thank Larry Hackett for his superb leadership the past two years.”

Rosemary Ellis, Editor-in-Chief, Good Housekeeping, was elected Vice President of ASME. Mark Jannot, Editor-in-Chief, Popular Science and Science Illustrated was elected Secretary, and James Bennet, Editor-in-Chief of The Atlantic, was elected Treasurer. ASME officers serve one-year terms and are eligible for reelection to a second term.

Four board members were re-elected: Chris Anderson, Editor-in-Chief of Wired; Ariel Foxman, Managing Editor of InStyle; Chris Johns, Editor-in-Chief of National Geographic; and Kaitlin Quistgaard, Editor-in-Chief of Yoga Journal. Four new board members were elected for two-year terms: Jill Herzig, Editor-in-Chief of Redbook; Jane Goldman, Vice President of CBS Interactive and Editor-in-Chief of CHOW.com; Christopher Keyes, Editor-in-Chief of Outside; and David Zinczenko, Editor-in-Chief of Men’s Health.
