The Prospect is hiring a Public Relations Specialist

At the Prospect, we are a small team with a big mission: to report and inform on Ideas, Politics and Power from a progressive perspective. We are in search of an enterprising individual who will own our audience engagement and public relations operations.

Responsibilities for this hands-on position are to coordinate, create and execute activities aimed at building readership, membership, and raising awareness of our content, projects and events; and to generate support for our fundraising via outreach and publicity.

The ideal candidate will have experience in social media management and marketing, an enthusiasm for connecting with our audience, a passion for elevating political journalism, and an understanding of relevant communication law. A talent for writing marketing copy, creating newsletters, coordinating virtual events, and basic video editing skills are all desirable.

This position can be based at our headquarters in D.C., or remote. Salary is $58,000 plus a full package of benefits. This position includes membership in the Washington-Baltimore News Guild/CWA which ensures an annual raise.
