Managing Editor at AsteriskMay 6, 2022 Asterisk is a new quarterly journal for people who want our species to see the 22nd century. Our goal is to provide clear writing and clear thinking about the world's most pressing problems and their solutions – from emerging technologies and new forms of governance to global poverty and the next pandemic. We're for Bayes' theorem, acknowledging our uncertainty, weird hypotheticals, and well constructed sentences. We're against easy answers, comfortable certainties, lazy metaphors, and the end of life as we know it. We're looking for someone who combines strong organisational skills and attention to detail with an eye for writing that works through complicated questions and conflicting data to paint a clearer picture of the world. Our ideal candidate has experience in project management or operations, familiarity with magazine production, and a sincere interest in humanity's long-term future, but we don't require any particular background. If you're excited to help build and launch a little magazine of big ideas, you are encouraged to apply. Asterisk is fiscally sponsored by the Centre for Effective Altruism, and salary and benefits are managed by the Centre for Effective Altruism, but we are an independent organisation and retain full editorial oversight.
